Transforming the Arnewood School's Memorial Garden
During the summer term, we met with a group of students from Arnewood School studying for their Student Leadership Qualification with the SSAT.
Part of the requirements for the qualification include identifying, planning and organising projects within school. The group of Student Leaders identified that they would like to focus on improving the school memorial garden.
The memorial garden was originally created to celebrate the life of students and staff who are no longer with us. However, with events over the past few years, the school also wanted to create a quiet place for staff and students to go to be able to think, reflect and process.
On Tuesday 27th September 2022, Nigel Pressnell, the Headmaster of The Arnewood School, along with other key teachers involved in the project, officially opened the memorial garden in a small ceremony including Darren Hazell, our Development Director. Students were also presented with their certificates.
Miss Gardener, Deputy Head of Humanities, Arnewood School said "The garden is absolutely amazing. We are very grateful for all who helped us with donating time and materials towards the project. It is something that staff and students will be able to enjoy for many years to come. It has exceeded all expectations, so thank you!"
Our Managing Director, Rob Flower commented "We are very proud of this project. As a local family business, the Arnewood school plays a part in many of our employees lives and supporting our local community and enhancing environments are part of the core commitments for NMSB.
It was great to be a part of something that saw the students take their ideas from design through to completion and provide such an important space for students and teachers to use."
